Why: Spread the cost – Up the fun!

3. Dinner for 10 at Pour Wine Bar and Bistro in your own private dining room (warm and cozy, good friends).
4. Dinner for 14 at Tabla Mediterranean Bistro in the private dining room (this is your neighborhood bistro).
5. Beautiful home in Yosemite National Park for one week, sleeps 6 or 8 with kids on the floor of generous living room. 15 minutes from Yosemite Valley, the Big Trees and Glacier Point (Eighth wonder of the world).
6. Dinner for 24 at your home catered by Tapalaya. Check out the website: www.tapalaya.com (think Special Event).
7. Italian Progressive Dinner for 16 hosted by 4 wonderfully generous Laurelhurst families (always good to take a stroll between courses).
8. Montana ski cabin for 8, week long stay, summer or winter (Grizzly Adams, Laura Ingalls with cable).
9. Private plane flight for 2 to Central Oregon or the Coast (NO better way to see Oregon).
10. Crazy scavenger hunt for 12 across the city ending the day with a BBQ cookout, drinks and an award ceremony. (Step it up, get crazy, who is going to win?)

Attention Scrapbookers!

Do you like to Scrapbook? We need some creative and crafty people to help put together the information easels for this year's silent auction. Our challenge is to create an exciting visual representation of the auction item or package including text descriptions with the details. The more exciting the easels look, the higher the bidding may go!

The goal is to have all volunteers meet for one afternoon to create all of the easels, so you are only committing to a few hours for a project that will raise much needed funds for our school and our kids! Sound fun? Of course it does! Please email Michal Overland if you are interested in helping with this incredibly important part of the auction.

We need Auction items - now!

This year, more than ever, our Auction procurement team needs all parents to think hard about what they can donate to the Auction. Our successful Auction depends on YOU! What would you want to bid on at the Auction? Can you donate that item? Do you know someone who can donate it? Do you know someone who can build it? Once you start thinking, we know you will come up with something that will make a real difference on March 14th, 2009.

Here are some ideas we’ve heard in meetings and around school:

  • Get together with friends or ask a builder-friend to auction off a TREE HOUSE.

  • Did you have fun sledding this winter but your sled was not up to snuff? Get together with a few friends and donate some COOL SLEDS for next Winter’s snow.

  • Do you cook a killer BREAKFAST? Offer 4 Sunday breakfasts over the year for the lucky bidder.

  • Can you THROW A PARTY around a theme? Do you have a VACATION HOME? Do you know an ARTIST?

  • What about a really cool cruiser bike for the lucky owner? Know a bike shop owner who may have a soft-spot for the school? How about a SURFBOARD or a CANOE for the family?

  • Can you donate a few bottles of wine for the planned-for “WALL-OF-WINE”?

Taking any of these actions will make a very real difference in the success of our Auction and in our staff funding for next year. Fill out a donor form found in the main office and help us help the school. You won’t regret it.

ALL DONOR FORMS DUE BY FEBRUARY 13TH, 2009.

What did you look like in the '80s?

Got a great picture of yourself from the '80s? Send it in, and we'll post it here, and in a slideshow at the auction! Don't be "too shy", or we'll make Kajagoogoo come after you! If you like, we'll put a little black bar over your eyes to hide your identity. But really, don't you want everyone to know that you once rocked a mullet and a skinny tie? Or was that a big pink "poofy" skirt with combat boots? Show us already... Send your pictures here.

This Year's Teaser Flyer...

Welcome to the Laurelhurst Auction and Party News page!

March 14, 2009 is the date of this year's Laurelhurst Auction and Party! The theme is "80's Party" so "come as you were" in your best eighties attire. This year's Auction will be held at the Bossanova Ballroom at 722 East Burnside from 6PM to 2AM! Yes, you read that right. We have the ballroom until 2AM so be prepared to party like never before, and of course, you can dance if you want to.
